Review, Photos and Video by Jerry Girard

Good Friday was Great Friday

The Bull Run Restaurant was standing room only for Danny Klein’s Full House. This new line up (I haven’t seen them live since the old line up) sounded the best I have ever heard them. They were tight and I believe the band had just as much fun if not more fun than the audience. With a crowd of about 300, i’d say that there were 250 people on the dance floor throughout the night.

My night began by meeting Danny and the band backstage and presenting DK with a Linda Jacque original piece of art from her Rock and Roll Tribute Collection (www.lindajacqueart.com).

The Aerosmith/J. Geils Band double feature at Fenway Park last month may have been one of the ultimate Boston rock experiences but like so many Hub moments, there was a Rhode Island connection as well, with West Greenwich drummer Marty Richards playing with the Geils band.

Playing at Fenway “was unbelievable,” says Richards. “I’m [originally] from Framingham; I used to go there with my dad all the time. Our dressing room was in their locker room. It was really special.”

Some of the special moments included getting faked out by Peter Wolf on some James Brown-style arm-waving cues. Reminded of that, Richards laughed and says, “That’s his fun thing; he loves faking us all out.”

For Peter Wolf, jumping-jack frontman for the hard-rocking J. Geils Band, a highlight of cutting his latest solo album was dueting with the legendary Merle Haggard.
By Bob Keyes bkeyes@pressherald.com Staff Writer

Never one who is short of energy, Wolf feels invigorated by the success of the new CD. He’s back on the road, with a band that can handle any of his musical moods. For the current leg of shows, he’s performing with a five-piece: Duke Levine and Kevin Barry on guitars, Marty Ballou on bass, Marty Richards on drums, and Jon Carroll on piano.
