The emcee for the event is Aerosmith’s drummer, Joey Kramer with performances by the J. Geils Band and French Lick. Guests attending Big Night will arrive dressed in costume as their favorite rock star, and will step into a completely transformed Boston Convention and Exhibition Center that will be reminiscent of both a rock star mansion and Boston’s early rock clubs.

For a band that broke up years ago, J. Geils sure gigs a lot. Peter Wolf, Seth Justman, Jay Geils, Magic Dick, and Danny Klein are back at it Saturday at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay’s annual fundraising bash at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. (Past performers have included the Bangles, Blondie, Cheap Trick, Morris Day & the Time, Duran Duran, Hall & Oates, Ziggy Marley, and the Steve Miller Band.) J. Geils, which played a handful of smokin’ shows last year, including a New Year’s Eve extravaganza at Mohegan Sun, has been performing all of their old faves, from “Looking for a Love” and “Give it to Me” to “Ain’t Nothing But a House Party” and “Centerfold.” Believe it or not, J. Geils is the evening’s opening act. French Lick, the outfit featuring Celts CEO Wyc Grousbeck on drums, will keep the party kicking with a set of classic rock, and Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer will MC.
