I have an old JGB ticket stub that I would like to add to those you have posted. I currently have it scanned, can I email it to you? What address?

    Thanks

  • funkyjudge

Thanks retread3. Email it to funkyjudge@mac.com

My main Mac is in for a new hard drive at the moment so I'll add it to the site when i get it back. The machine I'm on is to slow for anything. As i type this i get a call saying my iMac is ready for collection :-)

Hey Funkyjudge, great website and thank you for putting our link (Be-Geiled) on your homepage. May I ask if it's ok to add yours to ours? Keep rocking to the groovy sounds of the J.Geils band!

Hi Colin, Yes no problem. You can add a link to my site. I follow you on Facebook as well. Do you have any larger images of your next concert date for April 17th? I could add it to my site. In fact send any images my way relating to upcoming dates and I'll post them. My email is funkyjudge@mac.com

    Cheers

Thanks a million for keepin this repository alive! These guys did me in for good when I was 16 and they were playin the Fillmore East for the 1st time. It was a night to remember for so many reasons….but watching this band kick the livin be-Jesus out of the house was a site I'll never forget. Here's a link to my (small) homage to the boys, especially Mr. Wolf http://www.jimsmithctie.com/worthalisten.html

I just recently discovered this site and what I'd like you to tell me is why I didn't look for it until now? Nicely done.

I was at the same concert as Jim Smith Ctie. I was younger than he but I can vouch for everything he said. At a time when there was so much great music around, it was hard to astound. Two bands, J. Geils and The Allman Brothers astounded.

Speaking of The Allman Brothers, I don't know If you've highlighted this elsewhere but on the recently released “Allman Brothers Band Boston Common 8/17/71″ You can clearly hear Duane Allman (I'm pretty sure it's Duane) mention that the J. Geils Band is one of his favorites.

  • funkyjudge

Thanks Michael for your comments about the site. I'll check out that Allman Brothers Band release. That hasn't been mentioned anywhere else.

I have been fans of Jgeils band forever I am from DETROIT,and J Geils band were kings here,I have probably seen them more times in concert than any other bands,I was at there live albums they did here Cobo they could sell out with no problem, and usually after there shows they would go to a little club called Bookies and jam all night,I would say ive seen them over a hundred times in concert, saw them in the LA Calif area several times also “GOLDEN BEAR” Anaheim Stadium to name a few hoping to see them in Aug at DTE met them all onec would love to meet them one more time they are the best

  • Lmbsfamily

Any Idea what time Geils will be hitting the stage at Fenway?

  • funkyjudge

Not sure who is on first Aerosmith of Geils. Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents open at 5.30pm for half an hour. So whoever is first may start at 6.30.

  • funkyjudge

    From Boston.com: http://www.boston.com/ae/celebrity/articles/201

“We’re told the bands will soundcheck at the ballpark in the early afternoon, and opener Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents kick things off around 6 p.m. Then Geils takes the stage at 6:45, and Aerosmith will play from 8:45 till the bitter end.”

  • Kidquick185

I'm brand new to this site and it is awesome!!Do you by chance have the 1999 performance the Geils band did on the Today Show when they sang Lookin for a Love? It was on You Tube until just recently when it vanished.

    Many Thanks

  • funkyjudge

Thanks Kidquick for your comments. I've just added the Today Show clip you asked for. You can find it here: http://funkyjudge.net/geils/videos/j-geils-band

J.Geils Band ! When I counted them out at one time, wow! am I glad I was wrong, I saw them in AC last summer, and I went to Fenway and saw them play, and they really did steal the show. Great Job!! -yammagamma

  • Kidquick185

Hi Funkyjudge. Thanks for the video post. You actually posted the video from David Letterman that was taped in Boston and the band was fantastic! I'm looking for the clip from the Today Show where the band played outside on the plaza in NYC. Another great performance from the '99 reunion.

    Thanks for all you do.

  • funkyjudge

Getting my Today and Tonight shows mixed up. Just added the two Today show to that page.

On your archive for tour dates you have one listed with a question mark and I can fill in the blanks for you. 2/4/82 was at The Mosque in Richmond Virgina and the Fabulous Thunderbirds opened for them and were booed off the stage! The j. Geils rocked it that night!!

  • Anonymous

Thanks for the info. Just updated that year with the details.

  • Savonarola

I still remember seeing them in ’71 at the RockPile in Island Park, NY. In those days they were the best show – no question.

    J. Geils was such an influence for the good party growing up in Ohio in the early 70′s. They should find a way to come play with Kid Rock and Bob Seger in Orlando in November ’11. Talk about “Detroit Breakdown”.

  • Lolek

this site ROCKS!!!  nice job!  Detroit is getting ready for the DETROIT BREAKDOWN Friday night!  nuthin’ but a HOUSEPARTY!!!

    J. Geils needs no introduction around these parts. Fresh from his reunion with the full J. Geils Band in August along withAerosmith at Fenway Park, producer, writer, singer and sports car restoration expert J. Geils is a rockin’ master of the blues. Known for several huge classic hits and a soulful approach to the blues, J has now been nominated for the Rock Hall of Fame. Team him up with Jeff Pitchell & Texas Flood and you have a show not to be missed.
Jeff has been blistering the paint off the walls of most clubs in the New England area for some years now and he is one of the hottest guitar slingers on the circuit, drawing comparisons toJimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughn. His CD, Heavy Hitter, reached #7 on the Billboard Charts. Along with Texas Flood they tear up a rich mix of R & B, Rock, Soul and funky Texas Blues. Also on the bill at the Bull is very special guest Gerry Beaudoin, who will add his own sassy guitar to the mix for a rare night of dance and frenzy. Together they will be playing some of the J. Geils Band hits as well as some of Jeff’s songs and, of course, blues, blues, blues…

I was wondering if some one here can help me. I remember seeing the
    J. Geils Band at Merrimack College in N. Andover Ma. in the early to mid 70′s.
I woud like to know the actual date and who the opening act was.(John Mayall?)
      Thanks,
    Phil

  • funkyjudge

On the 1972/73 tour dates page, Mark C recalls seeing the band at the Merrimack Collage early 1973 with support band Spooky Tooth but no exact date.
