Anybody else think it’s a coincidence that they played stadiums and 12,000-seat amphitheaters the last few years and now — without J. — they’re playing casinos, theaters and county fairs? My all-time favorite live act but there is a reason it’s not called the P.Wolf Band. Settle the differences and bring J. back into the fold, or don’t waste my time.

  • Goyless Geils

To Tom – they were never a stadium band. During the 1999 tour some of the amphitheaters shows had to be cancelled, the Philly show downsized from and arena to a theater. Last year the only amphitheater they sold out was Pine Knob. PNC Art and Jones Beach, with BB King on the bill, were half sold before Irene cancelled them. These venues are the right size for now. J Geils is a brand and the guy who was just lucky enough to be the guitarist in a band with Wolf as frontman and Justman musical director does not own it.

The J Geils Band will rock on without Jay ! He needs to put his ego in his pocket !! Sad that he thinks it’s all about him .He is messing with history & tradition! Hats off to the boys for marching on & knocking our socks off one more time . I have seen them over 40 times and cannot wait to see them play !!!

I just saw the HOB shows in Boston and you all are in for a shock when you see the new J. Geils band. This is definately the best performance they’ve given since the 70′s and maybe better than any of those. The energy on stage is incredible. I think the new players have transformed this band. Everyone on stage was having the time of their lives, enjoying one another, in perfect sync. Nobody was calling it in. They all were bringing their best and it was pouring out of them like they were channeling from a higher power. No kidding.
If they stay on this course it will be a world tour in 2013. Then who knows, maybe a new album? You must see them this year or you will be missing maybe the best show you’ve ever seen, period.

  • funkyjudge

Reading on twitter that they did about 4 encores, is that true? When did the show end?

  • Gator

Just saw the band play last night in DC they were as good as ever they are tight and having fun ! Do not miss one beat without Mr Geils actually better without him . If you get a chance do not miss seeing the band . On way to see the boys in Atlantic City at the
    Tropicana Saturday night !

  • Janice

I agree 100% Gator. They’re playing is probably the best its ever been and I don’t miss Jay.

  • Steve

Just saw The J. Geils Band at the Capitol Theatre. They’re the best live group that I’ve ever seen. I saw them in 76′ in Central Park, it was my first concert and they were great but this one blew it away. The band never sounded so together. Every song sounded like it was being played from the album. Peter Wolf didn’t lose a step and MD well what can you say but WOW. The sound system at the Capitol is great. The whole show I didn’t stop dancing and singing. This is my third time seeing them and cannot wait to see them again and again.

Two seperate dates the Detroit show pulled ticket sales the morning they were to go on sale. I had my finger on the trigger…ready and waiting. Yesterday, the Detroit show was postponed with a TBA date. I don’t have a good feeling about that. Praying that I get to see my bad boys this year. I need me some harp!

  • Bill

Just got refunded by hob Chicago – 12/4 show cancelled bc of injunction.

  • anita030300

Oh no…that means the Detroit show is postponed inevitably.
