The J. Geils Band reminded the close to sold out crowd at DTE Energy Music Theatre last night why they ruled Detroit in the 1970′s and 1980′s.
They are STILL, 31 years after the first time I saw them (July 22, 1980), the best live band on the planet. Peter Wolf commands the stage and is as funky and energetic as ever. With his wild hair hanging out under the fedora, and his skinny legs carrying him everywhere including into the pavilion, he is hard not to watch. But the band never lets up, and as a unit they cooked their way through a set filled with blues, rock, funk, and hits.
