Former J. Geils Band lead, Peter Wolf, is back with his seventh solo album, Midnight Souvenirs, due on April 6 from Verve/UMe. The album mixes rock, R & B, blues, folk and country and includes guest appearances from Merle Haggard, Shelby Lynne and Neko Case.

The album is produced by Wolf and Kenny White, who also collaborated on the albums Sleepless and Fool’s Parade. The majority of the songs were co-written with Will Jennings (Up Where We Belong, Tears From Heaven, Higher Love) with additional work from Angelo Petraglia and Taylor Rhodes.

Wolf said in a press release for the album, “I never obsess about the commercial aspect of my music, just like with my artwork. What matters is if the painting is interesting to keep or show to somebody. It’s the same with the songs; you hope people will make an emotional connection. I absorb the influences and reshape them. The act of creation is what gives meaning to my life and keeps me going–in music and in art.”
